Title: Maintenance Technician (Afternoon Shift)

Reports to: Production Supervisor and Manager

Based at: Kingsville, Ontario

Revised: June 12, 2023

Type of Employment: Full time, permanent, 6-days a week, midnight shift and potentially extended hours depending on workload and priorities; which could include possible Sundays and Holidays.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Supports preventative maintenance on the sealers
  • Sets up and operates machine and adjusts controls that regulate operational functions to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Lubricates, oils, or applies adhesive, or other material to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures
  • Starts machine and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect defects, malfunctions, or other machine damage
  • Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications
  • Transports machine parts, tools, equipment and other material between work areas and storage, using crane, hoist, or dolly
  • Inventories and requisitions machine parts, equipment, and other supplies to replenish and maintain stock
  • Records and maintains production, repair, and machine maintenance information
  • Reads work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance
  • Performs general housekeeping tasks as well as small repairs throughout the facility and maintains building cosmetics at desired levels
  • Maybe asked to perform other duties based on skills and qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Completion of grade 12 or GED is required - completion of post-secondary or apprenticeship is preferred
  • Mechanical abilities in order to help troubleshoot production issues
  • Previous experience using a CMMS is strongly preferred
  • Must be comfortable working at heights at times
  • Proven ability to follow all Health and Food safety standards in the facility
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate any machinery breakdown, material concerns or shortages to maintenance, production supervisor or manager

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
  • Must be able to work from heights
  • Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F
