Job purpose:

The Warehouse Lead will be responsible for performing various business critical tasks in the shipping, receiving, storage, and movement of materials used in a large-scale greenhouse production facility. Typical inbound shipments will include packaging materials, growing inputs, and hazardous materials used in the cleaning process. Internal movement of goods will consist of staging the necessary materials used in daily production and storing finished goods before picking and creating customer orders. The Warehouse Lead will also assist in the disposal of organic/non-organic waste, picking, wrapping, and labeling outbound shipments.

A forklift will be used extensively. All movements will be required to follow procedures efficiently to meet or exceed expectations in safety, food safety, and customer satisfaction. Computer equipment and software will be utilized extensively in all aspects of this position.

The Warehouse Lead will play a major role in performing inventory cycle counts and implementing inventory controls. The employee must be able to communicate openly with supervisors and warehouse employees on any issues and be able to work with the team to implement and sustain process changes.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, staging, inventory movement, and finished goods flow
  • Act as a working Lead by actively participating in daily tasks while guiding team execution
  • Supervise the warehouse team to ensure daily plans and performance goals are met, providing real-time feedback and correcting issues as needed
  • Train and develop team members on operating procedures with a strong emphasis on safety, food safety, and quality standards
  • Ensure all materials are received, stored, staged, picked, wrapped, labeled, and shipped accurately
  • Maintain FIFO practices and full lot traceability across all materials and finished goods
  • Execute and monitor inventory transactions in real time within warehouse systems (e.g., NetSuite)
  • Perform and support inventory cycle counts, reconciliations, and root cause analysis for discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation meets company and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure safe dock operations, including trailer inspections, load conditions, and secure loading and unloading practices
  • Operate powered industrial equipment safely and enforce proper usage across the team
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including adherence to sanitation and housekeeping standards
  • Communicate and escalate safety, food safety, quality, inventory, or equipment issues immediately to leadership
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and 3PL partners to resolve issues and maintain operational flow
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying gaps and helping implement process improvements
  • Key OSHA standards focusing on warehousing hazards include material handling (29 CFR 1910.176), powered industrial trucks (29 CFR 1910.178), and hazard communication (29 CFR 1910.1200)


Qualifications:

  • Experience operating powered equipment to load, unload and move materials.
  • Experience with computers and inventory control software
  • Knowledge of GDP/GWP
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Must be a team player and show attention to detail
  • Must be able to work with moderate supervision
  • Must be able to work in cold environments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Computer skills, including full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to input, retrieve, and analyze data.

Working Conditions:

Coolers/Warehouse/Greenhouse. Employees will work mostly in cooler temperatures ranging between 35-55 degrees. Employees will have some exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Often working near moving mechanical parts. There will be exposure to cleaning chemicals. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud. All safety gear will be provided, and expected to be used, for conditions involving extreme weather, noise and chemical exposure. Schedule times could be adjusted based on customer and business needs.

Physical requirements:

Employees in this role regularly use their hands to work with materials and equipment and must be able to communicate and hear clearly. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms, as well as occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. Employees must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and, on a rotating basis, frequently lift up to 10 pounds. Clear, correctable vision at both close and distance ranges is required, along with peripheral vision to recognize and respond to safety hazards.
